Welcome to the homepage for Pentre Bach Solar Farm.
Elgin Energy is planning to develop a 20 megawatts (MW) solar farm in the southern part of Torfaen County Borough, situated on land north of Pentre Lane, Llantarnam, near Cwmbran. The project will span around 110 acres, featuring ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and an energy storage facility, with an estimated operational lifetime of 40 years.
Public Consultation
Initial consultation has been undertaken by Elgin Energy through engagement with Torfaen County Borough Council and residents living close to the proposed development. As part of the statutory consultation process, Elgin Energy began the six week statutory pre-application consultation period on 07.08.24. Residents will have until 23:59 on 18.09.24 to provide feedback.
With this website, we are providing information to the wider community and seeking feedback to inform the project design. It is important to note that the project is evolving through detailed design and stakeholder consultation therefore we suggest you revisit the website from time to time to check on developments or changes to the project.
Due to the size of this project, it is deemed a Development of National Significance (DNS), meaning that we will need to apply to Planning & Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW). PEDW will assess our application and then make a recommendation to Welsh Ministers, who will make the final decision.
Please note that partaking in this process does not affect your statutory rights to make representations to PEDW in respect of the planning application when submitted.
As part of the statutory consultation event Elgin Energy will be hosting a public drop-in session on 03.09.24 at Parkway Hotel, Cwmbran Drive, Cwmbran, Torfaen, NP44 3UW between 2pm and 7pm. Please come along to meet the project team, find out more about the scheme, ask questions, and provide feedback. Local feedback is crucial to good design.
